2023 Fall: Tournament Structure

Structure

  • Each registered team will get 4 games on the tournament weekend.  1 or 2 games will be played on Friday, 2 or 3 games will be played on Saturday
Teams ARE NOT required to join all 4 tournaments.  Registration is on a first come first serve basis

Age Categories

  • Grade 6/7 EJH - (Elementary & Junior High) - Girls & Boys
  • Grade 8/9 JH (Jr High )- Girls & Boys
  • HS (High School) - Grade 10,11 & 12 Girls & Boys

All participating athletes must be in their respective Grades for the 2023/2024 School year.  Players can play in Grade divisions that are older but not younger.  Example, a player in Grade 8, can not play in the Grade 6/7 Division no matter what the age of the player is.  That player could only play in the Grade 8/9 Division or the High School Division

Divisions

The goal is to always have 2 divisions in each Grade category. However, this is based on team registration. We aim to have a maximum of 6 teams in the “A-B” and “B-C” division. The tournament division will move forward if we have a minimum of 4 teams registered in the division. There may be times that we combine divisions based on registration.

Game Rules (Fall Events)

We will default to FIBA rules except for the following modifications:

Team Rosters

  • Players can not play for more than one basketball club in the same weekend in the same F.C.E. tournament
  • If a team is short players and would like to "call up" player(s) from another team from their club, they can do so under the following conditions:
    • The player meets the Grade requirement (not overage)
    • The team that is calling up the player, has a maximum of 8 players WHICH INCLUDES the called up player(s).  There is no reason to call players to help a team if they already have 8 players playing.  The reason to call players is because you have 7 or less players able to play in the game.

Modified Game Time

  • All games must start on time - NO EXCEPTIONS - this means that a current game must end 5 minutes before the start of the next game regardless of the time left on the clock. Teams playing next will not lose warm up time or playing time due to the game prior. Gym time slots are 1 hour
  • All games will consists of TWO 23-minute halves
  • 1 time out in first half, 1 time in second half
  • Half Time consists of 3 minutes
  • 24 Second Shot clock is in play by the referees
  • Stop time any time during last two minutes of 2nd half if game differential is/becomes 10 points or less
  • Clock will run anytime during the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half if the game differential becomes over 10 points

Modified Game Rules

  • No zone press or half court zone allowed in Grade 6/7 Division*
  • Bonus occurs on the 8th foul in each half
  • Player or Coach ejected from a game must sit out the next game
  • No overtime - games can end in a tie

Technicals and Ejections

  • Any player, coach or spectator who is ejected from a game is suspended the next game - if it is the last game of the tournament, that player will be suspended for the next game they enter in future tournaments
  • Any player, coach or spectator who is ejected from a game one than once during the Fall tournament series will not be allowed to play for in any additional Fall Series tournaments
